What is EN 1.4462 Stainless Steel Square Tube?
EN 1.4462 (UNS S32205/S31803, X2CrNiMoN22-5-3, AISI 2205) is a high-quality duplex stainless steel square tube with a balanced 50-50 ferritic-austenitic microstructure, conforming to standards such as EN 10219-1/EN 10216-5 (welded and seamless) and ASTM A790/A789.
EN 1.4462 stainless steel square tubes feature a minimum yield strength of 450 MPa, tensile strength ranging from 620-880 MPa, elongation ≥ 25%, impact work ≥ 60 J at 20°C, and hardness ≤ 290 HB (solution annealed state). The strength of EN 1.4462 is twice that of 304/316L austenitic stainless steels while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance. The pitting resistance equivalent number (PREN) is between 32-36, making it highly suitable for chloride-rich environments (up to 20,000 ppm Cl⁻).
