Inconel 718 alloy rod composition, properties, mechanical properties

Inconel 718 Alloy Steel Rod
INCONEL Alloy 718 (UNS N07718/W.Nr. 2.4668) is a high-strength, corrosion-resistant nickel-chromium material for use in temperatures from -423° to 1300°F. Age-hardenable alloys can be easily manufactured, even into complex parts. Its welding properties, especially its resistance to post-weld cracking, are excellent.

INCONEL 718 alloy is simple and economical to manufacture, coupled with good tensile, fatigue, creep and rupture strengths, making it useful in a wide range of applications. Examples include components, rings, casings for liquid fuel rockets and various formed sheet metal parts for aircraft and land-based gas turbine engines, as well as cryogenic storage tanks. It is also used in fasteners and instrument parts.

Corrosion and oxidation resistance of Inconel 718
Inconel 718 has good resistance to oxidation and corrosion at temperatures within the alloy's usable strength range in atmospheres encountered in jet engine and gas turbine operation.

Typical short-term tensile properties as a function of temperature for Inconel 718 are shown here for solution treatment and aging of the material as follows:
Solution Processing: 1800°F (982°C) 1 hour
Precipitation: 1325°F (718°C) for 8 hours, furnace cooled to 1150°F (621°C) at 100°F (55°C) per hour for 8 hours
