1.4571 stainless steel is a titanium-containing austenitic stainless steel, also known as AISI 316Ti or DIN X6CrNiMoTi17-12-2. It is a steel grade developed by adding titanium to 316 stainless steel to solve the intergranular corrosion problem that may occur in 316 stainless steel in certain environments.
1.4571 stainless steel characteristics
Corrosion resistance: 1.4571 stainless steel has good corrosion resistance in natural media and low chloride and salt content media (PREN value 23.1 to 26.7). It is also resistant to low and medium concentrations of organic acids (such as formic acid or sulfuric acid).
High temperature performance: The material is suitable for temperatures up to 550°C and is also suitable for low temperature environments. It has good oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance and is suitable for high temperature operations.
Other properties: 1.4571 stainless steel has a tensile strength of 500 to 700 N/mm², a hardness of no more than 215 HB and a density of 8.0 kg/dm³ (at 20°C). It is also magnetic (magnetic permeability μr ≤ 1.3), but is not polishable.
1.4571 stainless steel processing properties
Weldability: 1.4571 stainless steel has good weldability and can be processed using all common welding processes (except gas welding). If welding filler material is required, 1.4430 is recommended. No heat treatment is required after welding.
Forgeability: 1.4571 stainless steel has good forgeability. The material should first be heated to 1150°C to 1180°C in order to be forged in the temperature range of 1180°C to 950°C. This should be followed by rapid cooling in water.
1.4571 stainless steel application areas
Due to its excellent corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance up to 550°C, 1.4571 stainless steel is widely used in various application areas, such as equipment that resists sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, acetic acid, and acetic acid.
