What Is The Specific Use Of 904l Stainless Steel?

What is the difference between stainless steel 304 and stainless steel 316

1.904L is an austenite with low carbon, high nickel and high molybdenum. 904L has good activation-passivation transformation ability. The higher nickel content and higher molybdenum content are much lower than 904L. Due to the addition of alloy element copper, 904L has strong acid resistance, especially to chloride crevice corrosion and cracking corrosion. It is resistant to non-oxidizing acids such as sulfuric acid, acetic acid, formic acid, and phosphoric acid. It has good corrosion resistance in medium, good pitting corrosion resistance in neutral chlorine-containing media, and good resistance to crevice corrosion and stress corrosion resistance. It is suitable for sulfuric acid of various concentrations below 70°C. 2. It can withstand acetic acid of any concentration and temperature under normal pressure and has good corrosion resistance in mixed acids of formic acid and acetic acid.

2. The lower carbon content of no more than 0.02% enables 904L stainless steel to obtain excellent welding performance and machining performance. 904L usually uses manual arc welding or inert gas shielded welding. Preheating is generally not required before welding, but in the cold When working outdoors, it is necessary to evenly heat the adjacent area. Since 904L often has a tendency of tool sticking and work hardening during machining, front-facing carbide tools are used with cutting coolant of sulfurized oil or chlorinated oil for cutting. 904L stainless steel is widely used in the petrochemical industry, sulfuric acid storage and transportation equipment, centrifuges, reactors and seawater treatment devices, etc.
