ASTM A213 Seamless pipe Standard Specification.pdf

What is the meaning of ASTM A213?

ASTM A213 is a standard that covers seamless ferritic and austenitic steel boiler, superheater, and heat exchanger tubes. It covers a variety of steel grades, including alloy steels such as T11 and T22, and stainless steels such as TP304 and TP316. The standard specifies requirements for dimensions, wall thickness, and material properties.

Typically, tube dimensions and wall thicknesses provided according to this specification are: inside diameter 1/8 inch [3.2 mm] to outside diameter 5 inches [127 mm], with minimum wall thicknesses from 0.015 inches to 0.500 inches [0.4 mm to 12.7 mm] (inclusive), or, if otherwise specified in the order, average wall thickness. Tubes of other diameters are available, provided that such tubes meet all other requirements of this specification.

What is equivalent to A213?

The equivalent of ASTM A213 depends on the specific grade of the material, but common equivalents include ASME SA213, and in other standards, EN 10216-2 and ASTM A335 (for pipe). For example, ASTM A213 T11 is equivalent to ASME SA213 T11, EN 10216-2 T11, and ASTM A335 P11.

What is the composition of A213 tp304?

The primary components of ASTM A213 TP304 are 18-20% chromium, 8-10.5% nickel, and up to 0.08% carbon. It also contains other elements such as manganese, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur, and nitrogen, each with specific maximum and minimum percentage limits.

What is the thickness of ASTM A213 wall?

[0.4 to 12.7 mm], inclusive, in minimum wall thickness or, if specified in the order, average wall thickness. Tubing having other diameters may be furnished, provided such tubes comply with all other requirements of this specification.

What is the tolerance of ASTM A213 tube?
For ASTM A213 Seamless Alloy Tubes, the standard tolerance is +20% and -12.5% of the nominal wall thickness. This means that the actual wall thickness can be up to 20% thicker or 12.5% thinner than the specified nominal thickness.

What is the difference between ASTM A269 and ASTM A213?

ASTM A269 is for general service, while ASTM A213 is for high-temperature and high-pressure applications like boilers and heat exchangers. The main differences are their intended use, the type of tubing they cover, and material specifications: A269 is for seamless and welded austenitic stainless steel, while A213 is primarily for seamless ferritic and austenitic alloy steel tubes.

What is the difference between ASTM A249 and A213?
ASTM A249 is a standard specification for welded austenitic steel boiler, superheater, heat-exchanger, and condenser tubes. ASTM A213 is a standard specification for seamless ferritic and austenitic alloy-steel boiler, superheater, and heat-exchanger tubes.
