EN 10088 X5CrNi18-10 equivalent material

If you're sourcing stainless steel materials for general fabrication, kitchen equipment, or architectural applications, EN 10088 X5CrNi18-10 is a common specification you'll encounter in European markets. But what exactly is X5CrNi18-10, and what are its global equivalents?

What is X5CrNi18-10?

X5CrNi18-10 is a non-magnetic austenitic stainless steel grade defined under EN 10088-1. It contains approximately 18% chromium and 10% nickel, offering excellent corrosion resistance, formability, and weldability. It's widely used in both consumer and industrial applications due to its versatility and durability.

Corrosion Resistance

DIN EN 1.4301 stainless steel has good atmospheric corrosion resistance up to 300 °C, and good resistance to many (lightly corrosive) organic and inorganic chemicals. It can also be used at very low temperatures, but there are some limitations in marine, coastal and chloride-containing solutions.

Hardening

EN 1.4301 stainless steel cannot be hardened by heat treatment, but can be hardened by cold working.

What is the density of x5crni18 10 material?

The density of X5CrNi18-10 stainless steel is approximately 7.90 g/cm³.

Is 18/10 Stainless Steel the Same as 316?

18/10 stainless steel typically refers to 304 stainless steel with 18% chromium and 10% nickel.
316 stainless steel contains 2–3% molybdenum, which gives it superior resistance to chlorides and harsh environments (e.g., marine or chemical applications).

What is the Price of X5CrNi18-10?

Note: Prices fluctuate based on LME nickel index and market conditions.

Product Form Approx. Price (USD/kg)
Cold Rolled Coil $2.20 – $2.80
Sheet / Plate $2.40 – $3.00
Seamless Pipe $4.00 – $5.00
