What is SUS316 material?

SUS 316 stainless steel, an austenitic stainless steel, is a versatile material used in a wide range of applications, including food processing, marine equipment, and medical devices. "SUS" is the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) designation for stainless steel, equivalent to "SS 316" in the US standard system.

What is the composition of SUS316?

SUS316 stainless steel is primarily composed of Chromium (16-18%), Nickel (10-14%), Molybdenum (2-3%), and the balance being Iron, with small amounts of Manganese, Silicon, Carbon, Phosphorus, and Sulfur.

Is SUS316 a food-grade material?

SUS316 (corresponding to ASTM 316) is an internationally recognized food-grade stainless steel. Its molybdenum content (2-3%) gives it excellent resistance to salt and acid corrosion. It fully complies with food contact material standards such as FDA and EU 10/2011, making it particularly suitable for use in high-hygiene environments such as seafood processing and fermentation equipment.

What is the difference between ss304 and SUS316?
The difference between SUS304 VS SUS316 Stainless Steel is the additional of molybdenum of up to 3%. This grade of stainless steel is commonly used in the surgical indusry , paper pulp industry and also in the production of dyes and chemicals.

What is the difference between SUS316 and SS316L?
The main difference between 316 and 316L stainless steel is the level of carbon content, weldability, corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. SS316 has a 0.08% max carbon content while SS316L (UNS S31603) only has a maximum 0.03% carbon content.
