What is 1.4410 stainless steel made of?
EN 1.4410 stainless steel, also known as X2CrNiMoN25-7-4 or super duplex stainless steel UNS S32750, is a high performance duplex stainless steel grade with about 25% chromium, 7% nickel, 4% molybdenum and 0.3% nitrogen, designed for extremely harsh environments such as high stress, corrosion and chloride exposure. It is widely used in offshore oil and gas, desalination, chemical processing and marine applications.
What is the composition of 1.4410 steel?
The high levels of chromium and molybdenum in 1.4410 steel give it excellent resistance to localized corrosion, especially in chloride-rich environments. The addition of nitrogen increases mechanical strength, with the steel having a yield strength more than twice that of austenitic grades such as 316L.
