What Is 1.4401 Stainless Steel Structural Plate?

1.4401 stainless steel structural plate (corresponding to international grade 316 stainless steel) is a highly corrosion-resistant austenitic stainless steel.

Mechanical properties of 1.4401Stainless Steel Clad Sheet
Yield strength ≥205 MPa, tensile strength 515-720 MPa, elongation ≥40%, with both high strength and ductility.

Advantages of 1.4401 stainless steel structure plate
Corrosion resistance
Better than 304 stainless steel (1.4301), suitable for high chloride ion environments such as marine and chemical industries.
Resistant to organic acids and weak alkalis such as sulfuric acid and acetic acid, and outstanding resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.
Processability
Good weldability (recommended welding wire ER316L), no heat treatment required after welding.
Can be cold-formed, but annealing is required to eliminate hardening.
High temperature resistance
Short-term temperature resistance 1050℃, long-term recommendation ≤815℃, high temperature oxidation resistance is better than ordinary stainless steel.

Compared with 304 stainless steel (1.4301):
1.4401 has stronger resistance to chloride ion corrosion due to its molybdenum content, but it is more expensive. If used in a non-corrosive environment, 304 is more economical; if resistance to seawater or chemical corrosion is required, 1.4401 is preferred.
