What is the difference between TP405 and TP410?

TP410 undergoes quench hardening when cooled from high temperatures and becomes very brittle after welding, typically requiring strict post-weld heat treatment (PWHT). Due to its aluminum content, TP405 does not exhibit significant hardening upon cooling from high temperatures. Consequently, TP405 is easier to weld than TP410 and retains better ductility in the as-welded condition.

Is TP405 steel pipe magnetic?

Yes, TP405 is strongly magnetic. As a ferritic stainless steel-much like Grade 430 or ordinary carbon steel-it attracts magnets firmly. If your application requires non-magnetic properties (such as for certain electronic equipment), TP405 is unsuitable; instead, you should choose an austenitic steel like Grade 304 or 316.

Material recommendation for Heat exchanger
